Aesop My Little Fabric Flyer

This is a lovely flyer designed by a French artist about an workshop that will help people better understand herbs and aromas.

I found the design really simple but greatly conveyed the ideas of an aroma shop. The flowers behind the information provided a clear meaning of the workshop. The transparency in the white shape worked very well with the flower behind. I really enjoyed this design. It's simply, probably wont take much time to finish. But the layout is really nice.

Energize Magazine

This magazine design was designed by Metaklinika design studio from, Belgrade, Serbia. This issue was about all the new energy sources that are available and their efficiency.

I personally love the internal design better than the cover because the layout really gave me the feeling of those clean energy. The colored background also warmed up the design and made it not so mechanical and cold. In general, this was a professional design, not much of crazy design going on, but really nice layouts.

Bistronome grocery and deli

This is a personal project created by Serge Vasil. Since we are doing the cook book. I thought this would be a great reference. I enjoyed the clean design, and the layout of the types and photos. I think shooting those photo from right above is really a great idea to showcase the food. I especially enjoyed the red line under some of the images to create emphasis on the texts below it.

Nya Upplagan Magazine

The above designs were from Swedish designers Marcus Garde, and Linnea Bach Garde. They made up the company called Bach Barde in Stockholm. The above images were from their own magzines from 2010 to 2013.

I enjoy their design a lot, especially the color choices. It's modern and subtle. I like the transparency those colors created. They are all from the primary colors, red, yellow and blue. But the combinations made them look different. These are really nice design in my perspective.

Student Showcase

  • Designer: Mads Thorsoe
    • Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

This design was from a student work. I used the layout for my project 1 inspiration. I enjoyed the design very much. It's modern and simple. I especially like how he put random letters and numbers through the layout as decorative elements. In addition, the general black and white color schemes gave the design very good unity and balance.

Architectural Conference Brochure Design

I enjoy this brochure design very much. The water colors work greatly in this design, so does the overall layout. I love how the designer arrange those triangles and cut them right off the edge. The cover and back are elegantly simple. I feel very comfortable to look at a design like this. It's so clean and simple.

Landscape Architecture Publication Design

I found those publications on 2014,  December's Landscape architecture Magazine.

I enjoyed the designs because they really gave me a sense of architecture design. There are not very creative designs, but the simplicity and good organization made the design look very clear, and even made those products look better.

SHIFT Magazine

This was a publication from Tanya Test in order to highlight the 2009 TED Wish Prize Winner Jehane Noujaim. In this design, Test tried to advocate travel and international relations to build "cultural understanding, tolerance, open minds, and unity as people."

I think this publication is very well-designed in terms of layout of visual elements as well as color choices. I especially enjoy the cover design. She replaced the "I" with a diagonal line which very much created the feeling of "shift."Also, the woman in the photograph with the newspaper cover her face created a balance as well as unity with the design. The  yellow color stands out from the gray and white background which gives the design moderate contrast. I feel very comfortable to look at it. In addition, the foreign characters used blend into the overall design as well.

Starbuck Menu Design

I found the design on Communication Arts's Typography annual. It's Starbuck's advertising design which I found very interesting. I love the menu design very much because the classic feeling it gave me. The layout and types chosen are very professional. Also, the style fits very well with the food below. It made me really hungry.

Sappi Guide for Print

This was a guide book from Sappi. There are a lot of tips and techniques about achieving optimum printing results. I found the above two pages quite interesting. There are not a lot of text on the page. I guess the purpose is to show the colors, not the text. I like the colors and the simple design.
